AUGUST ACTIVITIES

1. Invitation to observe vassa: 3 Aug (Fri), 8 pm 
Vassa Robe Offering Ceremony: 5 Aug 2012 (Sun), 9.30 am  
Venue: HDB shelter Block 350, Canberra Road (opp Sembawang MRT)  
We invite all devotees who wish to offer vassa robes and requisites to the Sangha to participate in the Vassa Robe Offering Ceremony. The ceremony held at the HDB shelter, Block 350, Canberra Road (opposite Sembawang MRT station exit Entrance C).  Devotees who wish to offer Vassa robes and requisites to the Sangha are welcome to participate in this meritorious offering ceremony.  

Robes will available for offering at the shelter.

2. Uposatha Observance of 9 Precepts cum Retreat: 2 Aug - 30 Oct 2012 at 9 am  
Uposatha observance days will be conducted at the centre during vassa period.  We are pleased to invite lay devotees who wish to take 3 Refuges and observe 9 Precepts on new moon, 1st quarter, full moon & last quarter.  The sessions will be conducted in Burmese.

3. National Day Retreat  (NDR) :  
Date:      9 Aug (Thurs) 12 Aug (Sun)

4. Holiday Retreat  (HDR) :  
Date:      18 Aug (Sat) 20 Aug (Mon)
Two Vipassana meditation retreats will be conducted from 9-12 Aug and 18-20 Aug at our centre. Food and drinks sponsors are welcome.  Help from Dhamma volunteers is also needed.  

5. Group Meditation Sessions:  12, 19 & 26 Aug (Sun), 9.30 am 6.30 pm  
Group meditation will be conducted on every Sunday of the month from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm.  All are welcome to join us in the group meditation session at our centre.  Lunch will be provided for all yogis.  We would appreciate if yogis could register your attendance by email (name, contact number, session). This is will help us in our lunch preparation for yogis. Sponsors for lunch dana and maintenance expenses are most welcome.   Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!

6. Pindapata (alms food offering): 26 Aug 2012, Sunday,  9 am 
On Sunday 26 Aug, our two Venerables will be going on pindapata (collection of alms food) at 9-9.30am in the vicinity of the market (near platform area) at Chong Pang City, Yishun Ring Road.  Giving alms food or food dana is one of the meritorious deeds. Devotees who wish to participate in this meritorious activity may offer packet cooked food and dry food stuff (e.g. fruit, uncooked rice, sugar, salt, oil, biscuits, tissue paper, uncooked bee hoon, 3-in-1 beverages, toilet roll, soap, etc). Everyone is welcome to participate in this meritorious event and share the merit. Please do not offer money during the alms round as the monks will accept food and other daily necessities only.

7. Sharing of Merits in the Seventh Lunar Month (Ullambana): 26 Aug (Sun) at 10 am        
A memorial service to share merits in the seventh lunar month will be conducted on 26 Aug at 10.00 am.  Lights, flowers and robes will be available for offering. Please join us to share our merits with our dear departed ones and all past relatives, followed by a potluck lunch dana.
